The whole problem about household clutter is your own thinking about that. Everyone one has different clutter personality type. Read this and think carefully what your type is.
The Hoarder: "This might come in handy someday!"
Hoarding is about insecurity and financial insecurity as a whole. Hoarders fear that they will never have the resources they need if let go of anything they own, even if it is useless or unneeded. They need to be repeat that resources will be always available. Stuff will be with us always! Every small thing than a man need can be found (cheap!) at the thrift shop. Do not store useless things in your house .. and dare to dump it.
The Deferrer: "I'll think about that tomorrow!"
This type of personality will leave the whole household work - bills, notices, old newspapers, items that need cleaning or repair are all set aside to be dealt with another day. The Deferrer needs to be reminded that tomorrow has no more time or energy than today. The Deferrer will leave dinner dishes in the sink, wet laundry in the washer etc. For this personality the best remedy is action - need to finish the work today. It is easier to keep a rolling stone in motion, than it is to pick it up and start it rolling the first time!
The Rebel: "I don't wanna and you can't make me!"
It is obvious when you read the name of this type of personality that they refuse to do everything. They are stubborn and you should force them to do whatever you want. Rebel clutter can be anything, but often cores of household activies. They won’t put his or her clothes in the hamper, or put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Rebels need to remind themselves that the war is over. They don’t live with mom anymore and they should act as an adult, not as a child.
The Perfectionist: "Next week, I'll organize everything--perfectly!"
Perfectionists are wonderful people who do wonderful things – when they do them! This type o personality can’t accept doing a less than perfect job. They give more than 100 % in everything. Perfectionist Clutterers need to remind themselves of the 20-80 rule: 20% of every job takes care of 80% of the problem, while fixing the remaining 20% will gobble 80% of the job.
