Summer is already here and fans and air conditioners are necessary if we want to beat the heat. Here are some useful and speedy tricks to clean up fans and air conditioners. One of the biggest challenges for cleaning are shabby ceiling-fan blades, dusty portable fans and clogged air conditioner filters and vents.
Here are the tools you will need:
Old tablecloth or sheet
Extendable duster and step stool
Microfiber cloth
Sudsy water or blow-dryer
Vacuum with dusting attachment
Replacement AC filters, if needed
1) Clean ceiling-fan – place an old tablecloth or sheet underneath the fan to clean up your dusty ceiling-fan. Use an extendable duster to go over tops and bottoms of ceiling-fans blades. Another way is to take a step stool and dust with a dry microfiber cloth on both sides of the blades.
2) Wash portable fans – speedy trick for cleaning your portable fan – take apart the front grille and slide off the fan blades. Steep the blades into sink with warm, sudsy water and the rinse and dry the blades before reinstalling them. Do the same thing with the grille. For the base and buttons – wipe them with a damp cloth.
3) Freshen AC filters – If the air conditioners filters and vents are clogged, your electric bill can inflate. If you want to save money, read this cleaning tip and clean up them. For window units with a washable filter (check the manufacturer‘s notes), remove the filter and rinse under a warm water. Dry the filter before reinstalling. If there is a musty smell, spray the filter with an odor eliminator. Finally, use your vacuum's soft dusting brush and go over the grilles or the vents.
