How to Renew Wood Furniture - Cleaning Tips
How to Renew Wood Furniture

If you have old, dull wooden furniture, this tip is for you! Paste wax will help you get it shining again. There are several colours of wax so you need to be careful which one you choose. It should be similar to the furniture’s colour.

Here is the simple process of how to renew wood furniture.

1)      Clean - First of all, clean the wood with mineral spirits to remove dirt. Use a soft cloth to remove grime and touch up scratches with a fine – tip marker before you wax.

2)      Apply wax - When you clean the surface, apply wax. Wrap a bowl of wax in a cloth and spread over a thin layer and then rub with the ball in a circular pattern. If it is your first time and you haven’t used wax before – use wax on small areas no more than 3 x 3 ft.

3)      Polish – Do not wait the wax to dry completely, wipe out the excess of it with a soft cloth. You should wait until the wax partially dries, do not wait too long because fully dried wax is very hard to buff.

4)      Wax choices – There are different colours of wax available.  Use dark wax for dark wood and grainy woods for lighter wood.

A wax coating will last months and doesn’t require special care. You simply dust with a dry cloth.  Do not worry for wax build up – wax job removes of the previous coat.
