Surely, there are some problems that may occur when using the washing machine. Of course, you can fix some of the problems yourself but please pay attention to your safety, as electrical appliances may harm you if you do something wrong.
1. Prevent limescale build up – in areas with hard water, limescale is likely to shorten the life of your washing machine. Anti-limescale tablets are effective but as the detegrent already has softners you just have to make sure you use the appropriate dosage and not waste your money on additional substances.
2. Use the correct load – both overloading and underloading can cause damage to your washing machine. This is why you should always make sure that it is fairly full and have around four inches gap between the clothes and the top of the drum. You should allow extra space for fabrics which get heavy when wet.
3. Be safe – always make sure that you keep yourself safe. If you start repairing it, you should make sure the washing machine is switched off, as any electrical appliances can be extremely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.
4. Leaks – door leaks can be caused by overly worn out rubber seal. See if you can change it yourself (depends on the washing machine), if not simply call a professional.
