Mould and mildew are organisms that tend to develop in areas with high humidity, just like our bathrooms. Over time they show up on the grouts and are pretty hard to clean. This looks bad and in the same time it’s unhygienic. Everest Clean will give you 4 simple steps to follow which are proven to be effective in getting the mould out of grouts. They include only household objects.
What you’ll need:
-
Rubber gloves (to protect your skin; wear old clothes because the mixture may discolour them)
-
Bleach
-
Spray bottle
-
Scrub brush, old toothbrush
-
Paper towel
-
Vinegar
-
Lemon juice
-
Sponge
It does look like a long list but it is worth it!
Step 1
Combine one cup of bleach and 3 cups of warm water – mix it well in a spray bottle. You can use a permanent marker to label it.
Step 2
Spray the grout where the mould has developed. Be sure to keep the mixture away from your skin. Use the scrub brush to clean the area. For smaller zones you can use the toothbrush. Then rinse with clear cool water. If necessary, repeat the scrubbing again. You will notice the fast results.
Step 3
Some areas are harder to clean. If so, fill a small bowl with vinegar and lay three or four sheets of paper towel into it. After that place the towels on the grout and press them until they are fully in touch with the mould. This way your cleaning is going to be easier. Leave it for eight hours and from time to time apply vinegar so the towels don’t dry out. When you remove the paper towels and scrub a little bit, you will see how easy the mould gets out. Rinse the area with cool water.
Step 4
In order to prevent further growth you just need to apply some lemon juice 3 times a month. After bathing, dry the shower area with a towel. Put the juice on a sponge and scrub for a bit on the places where mould is possible to appear. Leave for 15 minutes and then wash it with cool water.
This method will definitely help you with your household cleaning. It will feel like the cleaning lady has been washing your bathroom all day long. The fact is that it will actually take you 15-20 minutes to do this yourself.
